Message from the President |

Well, we survived what is being called the hottest July in U.S. history. Our greens have really been stressed due to the heat and very little rainfall since Memorial Day. Fortunately, with the exception of #4 and #5, our greens have held up very well under the circumstances and Dan and his crew have worked very hard to limit the damage.
Some people have questioned whether or not we should look at switching to another type of grass such as champion bermuda. The cost to implement a new grass would not be cheap. In discussing the situation with Dan, he is very confident that we can maintain bentgrass greens. We think this summer has been an anomaly in terms of continued heat without any relief. Basically, if our greens can hold up like they have this summer, then we should be okay in the summers to come.
The Simmons First Red Wolf Classic was another huge success and we received numerous compliments from our guests as well as several members who participated. This month we should slow down a little as the summer quickly comes to an end and school starts back for the kids. Our junior golf program continues to grow and we are very thankful as they are the future of our club.
Thank You
Steve Tricarico, Jr.
